Diane Singerman

Diane Singerman is an associate professor in the Department of Government at American University's School of Public Affairs. Her research focuses on the areas of comparative politics; Middle East and Egyptian politics; gender and politics in the Middle East; informal politics;, urban politics; political participation; marriage; personal status law; youth; and social movements. Singerman was a Fulbright scholar and recipient of a Social Science Research Council Dissertation Fellowship.

Dr. Singerman received her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Princeton University and did graduate work at the American University in Cairo, living in Egypt for several years throughout her career.
